Thanks for all your feedback. Over 300 people voted in my "should I close" poll, and overwhelmingly people want me to stay in business. My "day job" is a high school science teacher, so it's time for another summer push of improvements to the site. Look for them in July and August!

ShopInBerkeley believes that by providing low cost and free web sites to
local businesses, we help shoppers find local places to purchase goods.
In doing so, we help our local economy, decrease the need to travel
to "the mall," and build our community spirit.
Online since July 2000, ShopInBerkeley continues to grow in both web page
numbers and visitor traffic. We currently have over 800 business pages, and
in November 2007 our business pages received over 100,000 hits, our
directory pages received an additional 34,000 hits. Our top business
pages receive over 2,000 hits per month.
Our "specialties" include
bookstores,
bike shops, and
restaurants (including over 200 links
to restaurants both on our site and elsewhere). Select a link from the
left menu bar and start surfing! If you don't find your favorite business,
let them know about us and suggest they sign up. Or
sign up for them! Give us as much
information about the business as you can, and we'll cofirm with them
and fill in any missing information.
Businesses may sign up for a
free page that includes location, hours, phone, and web link (for those
who already have a web site). Web pages that include additional formatted
text describing the business begins at $25/year.
