La Note is an authentic Provençal restaurant in the heart of downtown Berkeley. Traditional breakfast and lunch bistro fare are combined with rustic Provençal dinners in a warm and charming atmosphere. The restaurant won an award in 1998 for the remodeling and rehabilitation of it's beautiful 1894 building. The stunning interior patio is open April - October.

La Note lives up to its reputation as one of the East Bay's best and most popular restaurants. The decor is very nice, including a beautiful garden patio that is usually open during the day. However, the biggest reason that for five years this restaurant has been packing them in, is the food. The breakfasts include oatmeal raspberry pancakes and cote nord, which is two eggs scrambled with cream cheese or goat cheese. The lunch features an array of salads and sandwiches, the best of which is the Merguez, a spicy lamb sausage, with sun dried tomato pesto on French baguette. Dinner offers traditional and Provencal styles of French cuisine including their savory Bouillebaisse, Ratatouille and some spectacular seafood dishes. Top any meal off with one of their signature desserts, especially the Fondant au Chocolat, which was the highlight of the meal.
